The Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) Act, No. 46 of 2023 formally transforms ISMNC from a voluntary professional body into Nigeria’s statutory authority for strategic management. The Act empowers ISMNC to regulate practice, set professional standards, conduct examinations, and award certifications in strategic management.
It establishes a governing council, graded membership levels, and a nationwide chapter structure to expand training and capacity building. ISMNC is mandated to accredit programmes, develop curricula, and enforce Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (MCPD).
The Act also protects professional titles, prescribes penalties for misuse, and ensures financial autonomy through fees, training revenue, and grants. Transitional provisions allow existing members to upgrade to chartered status.
Overall, the legislation elevates ISMNC as Africa’s leading hub for strategic management excellence and aligns Nigeria’s strategic leadership practice with global standards.
